A Whole Development Goes LEED

Several noteworthy points in this article about a British Columbia town, Langford. The catchword LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) seems to be gaining visibility as a flashpoint for addressing a host of sustainability and planning issues. The face that the project sailed through shows how serious municipalities are getting. It would be useful to put together a local LEED guide as an inventory on what's actually being done.

Toyota Recalling Priuses

When I first saw the alert on a new Toyota recall I wondered whether, because it includes Priuses, any of the hybrid technology would be involved. Looks like not.

We'll have to wait to see if our Prius is part of the recall. So far, only one hybrid-specific recall has been issued on our Prius, having to do with the engine's electronic interface. Not bad for leading-edge technology. If only Microsoft Windows had that kind of reliability!
