High tech industry: Anything but green

Many people likely assume that the technology industry is a relatively clean one - with none of the obvious environmental polluting aspects such as smokestacks contributing to smog or large pipes full of sludge dumping into rivers.

But as environmental journalist Elizabeth Grossman was conducting research on the Willamette River, near her home of Portland, Ore., where many chip manufacturers like LSI Logic house their plants, she realized that the high tech industry is anything but green.

C/Net has an interview with the author and she has some unsettling news to share with all of use - especially those of us who have worked in the technology industry in one way or another throughout the years.
